The new movie Runaway Jury, a young widow brings a suit against a powerful group of companies she holds responsible for her husband’s death. The multi-million dollar case is very controversial, and many people think they can control the outcome. While the case is argued in court, a dangerous game plays out and nobody seems to care who gets hurt in the process.
Miguel recently saw Runaway Jury. Listen to him tell John what he thinks about it.

Miguel:  So, have you seen Runaway Jury?

John:  No, but I really want to. Isn’t that the one with Tom Cruise?

Miguel:  No. It’s actually not Tom Cruise. But, it’s John Cusack and, uh, a couple other good people. But it’s a really intense thriller movie. I recommend it.

John:  Isn’t Angelina Jolie in that?

Miguel:  Actually no, but Rachel Weisz is in it, and she looks kinda like, uh, Angelina Jolie. And she’s actually really good. She’s one of the best characters in the film ‘cause she plays a real pivotal role.

John:  So is it like a drama or a comedy?

Miguel:  Well, it’s more of a drama. It’s a John Grisham film, so it’s like that movie The Firm that Tom Cruise was in, and, uh, he’s made, he’s had a lot of his books turned into movies.

Discussion

I haven’t seen Runaway Jury yet, but I keep thinking about renting it every time I see it at the video store. For some reason, I’m still not sold on it. I can’t tell if it’s worth my time or not. Miguel did seem to like it, but he’s not super fired up about it. I did like some of the other John Grisham movies, such as The Firm, The Chamber and Rainmaker, so maybe I’ll give it a shot.
See you at the movies!
