  • We use PS to talk about the past and we know when these things happened.

e.g. I WORKED at father company whenI WAS thirteen.

note the verbs happened in past and we know exactly when it was happened

  • Spelling rules:-
  1. Regular verbs in PS simply.................. verd +ed

e.g.    need..........needed

           stay............stayed

           look............looked

           work...........worked

For verbs that end with......e.......we add.........d

e.g.   live...........lived

          die............died

For verbs that end with constant+y........the y  become i  and add ed

e.g.      study..........studied

           marry.........married

For verbs that end with constant+vowel+constant......we double the last constant then add  ed

e.g.     stop..........stopped

            travel........travelled

     2.   Verb to be in PS:-

I\He\She\It...............was

You\We\They.............were

      3.  verb  can...........could

      4.   Irregular verbs have no rules

I'll try to put many of irregular verbs in separated part God Willing

so  PS will be like

subject + verb+ed

and note that the PS is one for all subjects except verb to be

  • the PS in negative

subject+ did not ( didn't) + infinitive

e.g. I WORKED at my father's company when I WAS thirteen. ( positive)

I DIDN'T WORK at my father's company when I WAS thirteen (negative)

But with verb to be we only add not

I\He\She\It +wasn't (was not)+infintive

You\We\They+wen't(were not)+infintive

e.g. I WASN'T twelve when I WORKED  at my father's company.
