I read an article about anti-intellectualism today, actually, I didn't understand it very well and I just heard it at the first time.

It is said that the charm of American gravity(refer to the seriousness and rationality in their life) attributes to  their anti-intellectual national current, it is utterly unpretentious.

Also, it says that the intellectual are highly-praised in France, and it is a pride and pleasure to be considered as an intellectual. However, in Britain, it is completely different. Somtimes, it is an insult in Bratain to identify a person as an intellectual, and intellectual is related a man who's untrue to his wife(according to W.H.Auden, a famous English writer) or unhygienic, adulterous, small-breasted French windbags.

I'm confused about these statements!Innocent

p.s. Dear friends, could you share something about the intellectural in your country with me?  Thanks!Smile
