According to their own words this year the Big Cat Sanctuary in Tampa (Florida /USA) – that once also housed a cheetah like this one – rescued one serval, two lynxes and two tigers from people who thought they could keep them as pets, tame these wild cats and form some kind of bond with them.
Oh no! I’m not precise here! Two of these wild cats already got rescued from their species-inappropriate homes at the end of 2016, but it wasn’t until 2017 that their recovery from their awful treatment in these private households was at a point where the Big Cat Sanctuary could let them into their outside enclosure.
By the way they’ve got their own homepage – the “s” in the “https” means that experts certificated this website and online donation to this sanctuary as save.

Okay! This has nothing to do with this animal and actually doesn’t even have to do with cheetahs in general, but after all both cheetahs and tigres are big cats, so: These news actually surprised me myself, because I wondered since when governments care about animal conservation in foreign countries, but maybe two weeks ago the German government donated 20 million dollar for a conservation program by IUCN that tries to breed tigres and then release them.

Have you heard the latest news concerning big cats? According to different magazines first scientists already agree that the Amur leopard and the Arabian one can be considered as as good as extinct and even though the IUCN Red List doesn’t use the term “functionally extinct”, they confirm these extremely low and still decreasing numbers. So I think even they doubt that these two felines can be saved.
The Asiatic cheetah however may survive if we help him immediately. So please visit the links mentioned in my previous comment to learn how to get involved.

Iran – The last 100 remaining individuals of the Asiatic Cheetah are to be found in this country only – after going extinct in India. Meanwhile people are so desperate to keep this big cat alive that already first rumors can be heard about plans of India and Iran to clone this cheetah. As I said before these are only rumors and I don’t have any serious source to prove it. However perhaps the organisations the following links belong to may be successfull trying to prevent this animal from going extinct: “http://www.wildcatconservation.org/Asiatic-Cheetah.html” and “http://www.panthera.org/action-center”
By the way they look very similar to the Arabian leopard. That’s the reason why I decided to post this here.
