‘Marktcheck’ says that rice as it’s produced by hundreds of children (child-labor) in Myanmar, Cambodia, India, Uganda, Brazil, Vietnam, Mali and others contains risky amounts of arsenic. Before claiming this ‘Marktcheck’ examined rice sold by several independent enterprises. Plus this informative TV-show says that people should eat potatoes or corn rather than rice as eating rice is more likely to cause overweight than the aforementioned types of food.

‘Domradio’ also talked about the elections in Cambodia last Sunday. They say that there were strict controls and anybody who did not vote got arrested. Also the government took away the licence from radio stations that criticized Hun Sen. Also already last year the only strong opposing party was declared illegal.

Re-upload: I’m very hopeful that the organisations the two websites “http://www.aidforafrica.org/donate/” and “http://www.humanewildlife.org/cercopan.html” belong to, will be able to make a change for the better. They also give you the possibility of getting involved in the preservation of this forest.

The latest sample of the monthly German magazine “Dein Spiegel” says that the FAO encourages people to eat insects rather than beef or pork. They use scientific facts like that the meat of insects actually has about the same consistence as the meat of any other land-living animal. But they also use interviews with people who regularly eat insects and say the taste is comparable to some sorts of food we already know. They even mention that in Cambodia they prepare some poisonous spiders.
Reason for the FAO to show this interest in the cuisine of other cultures is: They think that by eating insects we could solve some of the problems the production of meat other than insects brings along – like deforestation and violation of the rights of the natives living there for the production of soy, overweight, cancer caused by some sources of meat, world hunger due to us needing too much space to grow pig food etc.
