Saddam didn’t fight. Iraqi’s obeyed his orders. All the way up and down the chain of command. Every single one of them could have refused. They could all have refused. The entire army could have refused. Instead they invaded Iran. Every single person who fought for him, should have fought against him. Valuing their own lives above Iranian lives is no excuse. It’s cowardice. All are responsible to some degree. The US is easiest to blame. Our guilt is there, but we are the only group you don’t forgive. Maybe your government is telling you lies about us the way their government told them lies about you. Did you mean when Iran as part of the Ottoman Empire declared war on the UK, 9 million Iranians died? So don’t war. That is not even relevant anymore. That the aggressor in war should complain about it’s own dead. You guys declared war on them, not the other way around. It is no kind of Holocaust. It doesn’t fit the definition. But even if it did, at the time, the US was a very weak power with no real international capabilities. What could we do? The Ottomans were far more powerful than we were. What did they do? You blame us like you weren’t stronger than us then. The UK was a colonial power with a bad reputation in many places. But that was long ago. I say Iran is the reason for hostility between us because Iran is the reason. Notice many nations don’t like us. We talk. Over time things change. They don’t attack our embassies and hold a bunch of clerks and guards hostage then claim it was our fault to begin with. They don’t call for our deaths and blame us for things we didn’t do. Call us the Great Satan then complain about our lack of respect. We don’t do these things to Iran. I truly believe my government wants better relations with Iran. I know the average person here would want better relations with Iran. I’m not sure that’s true of Iranians.
