‘Reutlinger Nachrichten’ says that some supermarkets in France, Belgium and the United Kingdom now banned beef products provided by JBS, Marfrig and Minerva from their shelves. Reason is that these get their meat from regions the Brazilian rainforest is located to. Most likely parts of the rainforest got destroyed for this.

The German newspaper ‘bleib gesund’ says that scientists compared meat products of different prices. And they found out that the more expensive products didn’t necessarily mean that the animal in question had a better life than the animal that was turned into less expensive meat. For example ham that costs 17 € and ham that costs 28 € both could be from a pig from a feed lot just as well as it could come from a pig that had spent most of its life on a wide pasture and with many more pigs to keep it company. Sometimes the reason for a high price is just that they put a lot of expensive advertisement into this product.

‘Tagesschau’ says that a cargo ship with almost 950 cows on board was heading for Turkey. Alas Turkey then didn’t allow for these cows to be unloaded. The animals were from the EU where at the moment many cows are dying of a disease infecting ungulates only. So after discussing with Turkey for weeks the captain finally gave up and brought the animals back to the EU. There however – after a stressful two months at sea – all cows were killed and the carcasses just got dumped. The EU just won’t allow for living cows to be imported from outside the EU – and technically the water surrounding the coast of Turkey does belong to Turkey and not the EU.

Wobbly Joe,
‘Back to the Future’ :D Lol!
Also I don’t remember the other post you asked me about. Sorry for telling you just now, but as it seems for some reason englishbaby.com won’t tell me anymore about new comments.

Anyway as I was going to say: ‘Foodwatch’ now gave their mocking award for fake advertisement to the German brand ‘Grünländer’ as on the packet they declared one sort of cheese as ‘from free-running cows’. Fact is however that environmentalists found out that the cows used for this cheese never get to see a pasture. The makers of the cheese however claim that this is simply a misunderstanding and not a lie and they mean that the cows are free to walk around in the stable – nothing more.

Since I already wrote on this one…
Do you remember posting about the idiot who killed a man over parking in the wrong place and then claimed “Stand your ground” was his defense?
You posted about it when it happened but I can’t remember where.
Anyhow, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
