Racism is alive and well in China, just as it is everywhere else. The situation in Tibet is based in racism. The Chinese government condones it every time they move Han Chinese from one area to another. 56 ethnic groups? I don't think so anymore. Moving masses of people from one place to another only serves to create tension.

Anyway, back to the question. Anything a child thinks usually comes from a parent. Anything an adolescent thinks might have roots with parents but probably comes from his or her peers.  I would bet that there is a core of peers who are very racist and that they have started to enlist other, weaker individuals who can't think on their own. Peer pressure in teens is very strong, maybe stronger than parental influence. Germany has a terrible history as far as racism and discrimination is concerned but your government is fighting it probably better than any other country in the world. The study of racism in youth deserves intense study. This is a great topic, thanks for starting it. I have more to say but this is already long enough,

Sri Lanka

Unfortunately, racism is common in Asia also. Some of the people in Sri Lanka have been critical of its army chief in this regard. This calls for courage as some journalist have been murdered in the past.

It's hard to believe that there is no racism elsewhere in Asia. It's difficult to make the world a better place for all unless you begin to be a bit honest – even it means not parroting what the politicians say.

I would think that it is often easier for an Asian to find a job as an English teacher in America or Australia, than in another Asian country.

Just look at the advertisements for English teachers. I saw one CV where the person's ethnicity was given as "Caucasian"!
