There’s an old saying in English: “The grass is always greener on the other side.” It means that you always want what you don’t have.
Similarly, when someone moves on to something better, a better job, lover, apartment or anything really, you can say that person moved on to greener pastures. If your neighbor moves to a bigger house and someone asks where she went, you could say, “She moved on to greener pastures. She got a place with a pool across town.”
Most people can imagine greener grass in almost every aspect of their lives. There’s always a job, lover, or apartment better than the one you’ve got. Unless you’re Hugh Hefner.
As the owner of Playboy Magazine, a magazine that features articles about sex and pictures of naked women, Hefner has millions of dollars and lives in a mansion with the models from the magazine. Many of the models are his lovers. He is 81 years old.
Hefner’s day to day life is what many men dream about. He cannot imagine anything better. The grass isn’t greener anywhere in the world. His pasture is the greenest, as far as he’s concerned.
