Hey There!
Welcome back for part two of Nedra’s job interview! I hope that you all had a chance to listen last week to the first part of the meeting between Miguel and Nedra, our friend who is trying to get on board at Miguel’s company.
Last week we listened in as Miguel and Nedra met each other and talked about Nedra’s skills and work experience. In part two of the job interview, you can listen to Miguel explain a bit more about the company to Nedra, and hear her response to that information.

Nedra

Miguel:  What are some things you like to do for fun?

Nedra:  I really enjoy Yoga and I’m starting to get into jogging a little bit and, uh, beadwork and, and sewing are really fun too.

Miguel:  Okay, that’s great. Um, well, before we get into some of the details about the job, um, I just wanted to let you know a little about our company. Uh, we’re a young company, we just have, uh, you know, five or six employees. And, so when you join the team you really become an important part. Um, it’s not like you’re going to be working at Intel where there’s, you know, 85,000 employees or, or whatever, so… First thing, is that the kind of opportunity you’re looking for?

Nedra:  Yeah, that sounds really exciting. I really want a chance to be able to be an independent worker, and be able to take on tasks without you having to babysit me. I think that would be a great opportunity for me at this point in my career.

Miguel:  Well, that’s a good answer cause that’s really important- to be able to, um, be self motivated and to be able to work on your own. Um, I don’t have time to be babysitting anybody at this point.

Discussion

As I said last week, this job interview is more casual than most others. This gives Nedra a good indication of the way the company is run, which will help her decide if she wants to join the company.
Over the course of my career I have been to many different job interviews. While all are unique, I feel like I have been lucky to interview well because I try to be very honest and to come prepared with intelligent, pertinent questions about the company and the role I would have there if hired.
What tips do you have for others who are interviewing for jobs? Come to the Life Goes On Message Board and tell us all about it!
Have a great week, friends!

I think you should know what you are looking for the company.
and that is what we can offer your company.
speaks of all your skills.
Talk about your past experiences.
and relax.
