Dave:  Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire, ah, came out, I think, last week.

Taylor:  Yes, last week.

Dave:  Yeah, it’s number one, number two in the box office right now. It’s supposed to be a phenomenal movie.

Taylor:  You know, there’s always been an interest in movies about wizardry, you know, but never has anything been quite as popular until Harry Potter. It’s pretty impressive.

Dave:  Yeah, yeah. It is kind of a landmark, I don’t know, story, in that respect, isn’t it?

Taylor:  Mm hm.

Dave:  This, now, in the Goblet of Fire version, this is where the characters start to come of age, I think they’re hitting puberty now. Harry Potter, he shows a little bit of stubble on his face.

Taylor:  Finally reaching his namesake.

Dave:  Right, “hairy” Potter.

Taylor:  Right.

Dave:  Good call.

Taylor:  Do you know what, really, is the key element of the story?

Dave:  I don’t know. I saw the preview online, ah, just this morning.

Taylor:  Mm hm.

Dave:  And, it seems to center around some sort of competition. So maybe the Goblet of Fire is similar to the Olympics trophy, or something?

Discussion

The Harry Potter series have been extremely successful worldwide. Over 250 million copies of the books have been printed. The creator of the series, J.K. Rowling is the world’s first billionaire writer. After the Queen, she is the richest woman in England. I guess you could say that she is “Rowling” in the money.

Have you read any of the Harry Potter books, or seen any of the movies? What do you think about them?
