I agree with you,it is so hard even impossible to measured love .

But when someone loves a person as much as he/she just wants his/her(love) happiness even he/she (lover) isn't in the middle of that happy situation.

an example:

As you know one of the best lover of all people is (MOTHER)

mothers love her children at all moments & in all situation.

They want to see their happiness even they aren't in many happy situations ,but when their children are happy they feel happy too.
