The Cold Six Thousand

I'm reading a book called "The Cold Six Thousand" by James Ellroy.

It's a crime novel. The title seems to mean six thousand dollars in cash.

It must be a slang, I think. Because I can't find any  similar example in my dictionaries.

Hi! It sounds like it does mean six thousand dollars in cash. Sometimes we say "cool" or "cold" to emphasize an amount of money, for instance, "I made a cool million last year on the stock exchange."Money mouth
