The word “liberal” is usually used in contrast to “conservative,” when discussing politics. Politically, if someone is more liberal, he or she is farther to the “left,” and more open to changing or expanding laws, as opposed to conservative, or farther to the “right” people, who typically want to keep existing laws and rules as they are.

I have undrestood from your answer that liberal simply means, ( Open or flexible ) to change, even if it conflicts with their basics principles.
