to act silly, to act in a playful manner, or to do something unimportant

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Anyone can goof around, but young people usually do it more often. If you’re hanging out with your friends, making jokes, and being silly – you’re goofing around. Goofing around is fun, but if you do it in class or at work, your teacher or boss might get mad.

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

””Joe and I were goofing around in class, and Mrs. Johnson got really mad at us. She made us sit in the corner.” “My sister and I always goof around at the dinner table, but our parents don’t really appreciate our humor.” “I try not to goof around when I’m at work, because I’m usually very busy. I just don’t have time for fun.”“

””Erik and I had so much fun in Seattle yesterday. We just goofed around all day!”“

Well, since goof means stupid person or make a stupid mistakes, I think goof around here means that they make people laughin by doin such stupid, foolish and nonsensical behaviors. In general, ya can say that they do every thing no matter what people goin to say just to have fun.
