Web
An abbreviated term for the World Wide Web.
Websites A collection of html files, graphic files and any other file types that are supported by the World Wide Web that can be viewed by using a World Wide Web browser.
Offline This is working on a computer that is currently not connected to the Internet.
Online This is working on a computer that is currently connected to the Internet.
Browser A program that lets you read information (example, Internet Explorer or Netscape)
Internet Explorer A web browser promoted by Microsoft. (I.E.)

Provider A company which gives you access to the Internet
Server A computer which contains data which can be accessed via the Internet
Shareware software often distributed on the Internet
To log on to enter an area, such as a chat room, on the Internet
To surf to use the Internet
Message Boards A website where you can sign up as a member, and then post questions, comments, or other text.
Forum Pretty much the same thing as Message Boards.
Virus or Bug Means a code that causes a computer to malfunction and that has been distributed to the public.
Zip Compression software

24 - 7 24 hours a day - 7 days a week

Tube monitor or screen
Monitor A device that takes signals from a computer
Screen A television set or computer monitor, on which a visible image is formed.
Chat room An area on the Internet where people write together in real-time (at that moment)
Download To transfer information from the Internet "down" to your hard-drive.
Homepage A person's personal Internet page
Modem Hardware used to make a physical connection between a computer and a telephone line
e-mail Electronic messages that are sent via the Internet.
Favorites A list of files or web pages you plan to visit often.
Internet Computers that are connected together, so that they can talk to each other.
Global network World Internet (www.****.com
Local Network Such as in an office Network: Any time you connect two or more computers together so they can share resources, you have a computer network. Connect two or more networks together and you have an internet (small "i").Graphic Something written or drawn or engraved; "graphic symbols"
Gif A type of graphic file that stands for Graphics Interchange Format.
JPEG A type of graphic file that stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group.
BMP A type of graphic file that is used by Microsoft , bitmap format picture.
TIFF A type of graphic file that stands for Tagged Image File Format
(Jpeg and gif are the most commonly used graphics used online)
Avatar, or AV This is a little picture, or graphical representation of a person in a chat room.
Emoticons The little funny characters you see typed that are supposed to indicate mood.
Icon
A Little picture on a computer screen or window linked to a program or comma
Inkjet Printer type where ink is sprayed on to the paper through tiny holes or jets.
