Nedra:   Hey John. How was your sister’s graduation last weekend?

John:   Oh, it was great! My mom and I flew out to Chicago to watch her walk across the stage.

Nedra:   Um, so, was the ceremony really long?

John:   Yeah. It was really long and boring. Um, basically it was a bunch of teachers getting up on stage and handing out awards to each other and then, you know, all of the students who were graduating have to walk one by one across while someone reads their names.

Nedra:   So did any famous people give a speech or something like that?

John:   No. You know, usually there is a good speech like that. But, this time there wasn’t. I think that’s what contributed to it being so lame.

Nedra:   Well, I bet you’re really proud of your sister and she was really glad that you guys came and saw her.

John:   Oh, we were really proud of her. She’s the first person in the family to get her Master’s degree.

Discussion

Nobody has very much fun going to a graduation, unless they are one of the graduates! John mentioned that the ceremony was long and boring, but it sounds like it was all worth it for John to go and support his sister on her big day.
How many of you have attended a graduation in the United States? Was it your own graduation, or a friend’s? Come to the LIFE GOES ON message board and share with us, and I hope you all have a wonderful week!
