What do you see when you look at me?!

Lesson

What do you see when you look at me
Do you see someone limited,
or someone free
All some people can do is just look and stare
Simply because they can't see my hair
Others think I am controlled and uneducated
They think that I am limited and un-liberated
They are so thankful that they are not me
Because they would like to remain 'free'
Well free isn't exactly the word I would've used
Describing women who are cheated on and abused

They think that I do not have opinions or voice
They think that being hooded isn't my choice
They think that the hood makes me look caged
That my husband or dad are totally outraged
All they can do is look at me in fear
And in my eye there is a tear
Not because I have been stared at or made fun of
But because people are ignoring the one up above
On the day of judgment they will be the fools
Because they were too ashamed to play by their own rules

Maybe the guys won't think I am a cutie
But at least I am filled with more inner beauty
See I have declined from being a guy's toy
Because I won't let myself be controlled by a boy
Real men are able to appreciate my mind
And aren't busy looking at my behind

Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause
The role that we play definitely deserves applause
I will be recognized because I am smart and bright
And because some people are inspired by my sight
The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility
In the back of their mind they wish they were me

We have the strength to do what we think is right
Even if it means putting up a life long fight
You see we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt
We are given only respect, and never treated like dirt
So you see, we are the ones that are free and liberated
We are not the ones that are sexually terrorized and violated
We are the ones that are free and pure
We're free of STD's that have no cure

So when people ask you how you feel about the hood
Just sum it up by saying 'baby its all good'

Our objection to this “That my husband or dad are totally outraged” is the too often “honor killlings” that have been brought to our lands by immigrants of your faith. We didn’t invent killing our daughters for becoming Westernized. How come you haven’t heard of that?

Another Muslim uses her faith to insult us with lies. The hypocrisy is amazing. Unending and amazing. It’s like they weren’t listening when Achmedinijad told the exact same lies to the laughter of the world.

Just more hatred.

It’s not our fault that your men are so weakminded and your faith is so small that your men will lust if they see your hair. It’s not our fault that your women are so promiscuous that just being seen by a man will turn them into prostitutes.

You make insulting assumptions about my mother, wife, and daughter.

Our women are seen as our equals, not our whores. When Islam can say that, maybe they’ll quit beating women for not wearing the veil. And before you deny that happens, be sure. Your nation is not the only nation. Some Islamic nations even arrest women for having pretty eyes!

The women in my life are none of the things you claim yet you claim they are. Should we respect a faith that hides it’s hair but not it’s lies?

I don’t need to check them in my country; Im looking for freedom within myself, for being “me” freely without any fears of the others’ behavior, no matter how people think about me or judge me…

its not important for me where I live either, whether Iran or any other countries … wherever I will be, I will be free… bcoz I am simply me…what you see is “free me”… in scarf or without it…

BUT

you buddy!! “Jennimaggi” oh no dear you can’t be that model (“Jenni Gregg“) or maybe you want to be that!!

Are you free like me?? No for sure, I think as long as you are here to be as a center of attention of others as a sexual attraction , you are not free, you still cannot be yourself, you cannot express yourself as you are, you just know how to play role of others…as a sexual tool…

that’s All.

you are still in prison, though you are naked…

it seems this lesson is somehow poetic and does not show reality esoecially in our country. unfortunately whenever we hear from freedom the kind of wearing come to our mind while freedom has many factors and one of them are “kind of wearing”. i think we muslims chat about this because it is our problem. i do not think youth in western countries chat about this kind of issue as we do.

my dear friend hazelgirl as you said freedom is not about wearing veil or being naked. it is about having choice. do you have this choice? imagine you do not want to wear scarf, can you? i remember in my university there were some muslim students with veil and some of them without veil. can i come to your country without scarf? even when politicians (for example catherin ashton) come there have to wear veil! by the way freedom is not only about wearing; freedom of newspapers and media, access to internet, freedom of press and journalists and… .you can check them in your country my friend.

Freedom is in “free will”, NOT in wearing veil or being bare, only when you have rights to choose your manner of life by yourself you have freedom and just then you can claim you live in complete freedom, maybe “wearing veil” or “having hijab” in Europen countries will be as strange as “being naked” in muslim countries, so as long as you have to live under strict and determine rules, you cannot be free whether nude or with veil. keep it in mind jennimaggi!!

when somebody grow up in a situation she habituated to it and she think it is right and good while she does not experience another situations. there are many many muslim immigrants in urope who when reach to urope they remove their clothes because they find freedom. without experiencing freedom how can you define it? imagine you want to remove your veil. do goverment allow you? it is not freedom, it is not beauty.

Many people don’t know the real definition of free will. As for muslimahs who are not binded on secular affairs; they understand at most what free will does really be and that is shown in this short poem as well. Thumbs up!

beauty is not in taking  photos in which   u are bare.or is not in  photos in which ur  going to show ur body ;actually beauty is in our heart ;in the  deep feeling that we have with our God ;in the nice feeling that we have with our family and friends

.God is always watching us..so we should always be aware of what we are doing with our chance of  being alive
