Hi Friends!
Summer is a great time to do things other than work. Many people take advantage of the long days of summer to do special projects. Some people work in their gardens. Other people do arts & crafts. Still others remodel their houses or build furniture.
Miguel recently started a major summer project. Listen in to his conversation with John to hear all about it.

Miguel

John:  You got any summer projects going on?

Miguel:  Well, it’s funny you ask that. I actually just started working on, uh, a little house I’m actually building.

John:  Have you ever built a house before?

Miguel:  No, but it’s my first time. I’m gonna learn how to do it. That’s what’s so exciting about it.

John:  Oh, that’s right. You were in architecture school, right?

Miguel:  Well I studied architecture, yeah, so I have a pretty good idea, a basic understanding, but I’ve never actually, like, hammered the nails myself.

John:  So you’re designing it and building it yourself. Is anyone gonna live in it?

Miguel:  Well, it’s actually a guest house, so when people come to visit the people who live in the big house, then they’ll have a place to sleep. But, hopefully it will be so nice that, you know, everyone wants to stay in there.

John:  Well, you’ll have to throw a big party to celebrate the opening of the house.

Miguel:  I will. It’ll be a housewarming party.

Discussion

Miguel is quite ambitious! Building a house is a pretty huge project. I’m very impressed that he has the guts to try something like that. It will be fun to see the finished product when it’s done!
I’ve been doing lots of small projects this summer. It’s more fulfilling to me to do small things, because then I can get them done in a short time. For example, I recently painted my living room a different color. It only took one day, but it made a big difference!
Have a great week!
