Amy:  I just saw that movie My Week with Marilyn, Dale, have you heard anything about it?

Dale:  Not yet. Tell me more about it.

Amy:  Well, you know, it’s a true story. And it is about this young guy who’s working as an assistant on a movie that Laurence Olivier, the famous British actor, made with Marilyn Monroe.

Dale:  So the story is about Marilyn Monroe, the beautiful idol from the ‘50s and ‘60s, I believe.

Amy:  Exactly, yeah. So you think that Marilyn Monroe was a total bombshell?

Dale:  Oh, she was a total knockout. She was, to me, the ideal woman.

Amy:  She definitely was the number one iconic beauty of her time. But it just made me think a little bit about how our ideas about what’s beautiful have changed a little bit in the last 50 years. Like she was very voluptuous, curvy.

Dale:  And she was natural. She was very natural.

Amy:  Yeah, no plastic surgery, right?

Dale:  Compared to right now, you don’t know if people have done Botox or have done any kind of plastic surgery.

Amy:  It’s just kind of interesting, you know, like throughout time I guess our standards of beauty are always changing, but it seems like these days, like you said, plastic surgery is so common. It’s like everybody in Hollywood, it seems like, is just perfect looking and so skinny. So, it was pretty refreshing to see this movie, and to be reminded of her.

Amy recently saw My Week with Marilyn, and she explains to Dale what the movie is about. Dale thinks Marilyn Monroe was very beautiful. She was an iconic beauty during her time, and many people still think of her as a total knockout.

Although Dale still thinks Marilyn Monroe was a bombshell, Amy says that our ideas about what is beautiful have changed since she was alive. Marilyn Monroe was curvy, whereas many women today think they have to be very skinny in order to be seen as beautiful. She also was a natural beauty. She didn’t have any plastic surgery.

Do you think Marilyn Monroe was a bombshell? What features or characteristics do you think makes somebody beautiful?

i guess the point is that even making stupid things she became an icon…and..to my opinion, it makes no difference whether you’re knockout, bombshell, the beauty queen and so on and so on, but the understanding..being understood by the surroundings , being understood by the one you loved, this is the point… and as far as we can see from her example, she wasn’t happy with her beauty and money…suicide was her groove she fell into

I couldn’t care less about this lesson. I saw prettier girls at the liquor store. I’ve never seen any of her movies, I find her iconic pose very silly not teasing, and why every wannabe nowadays tries to emulate her, is beyond me. It’s time for English baby to make a lesson around Sabrina Salerno…(:

I think the beauty of Marylin is fenomen.it’s a riddle.

Your beauty is your sexuality and stunned charm.

A lot of modern stars use a plastic surgery, dieting…but no one have such charmant, such attractness?

And I read her biography, she was woman with nice laugh and good sense of humor.

Beauty doesn’t depend just from pretty face and figure.

FUN777.  I agree with you that dying young, though  sad ,  has helped to keep  her   myth intact .

Well, i think the beauty concept is different from person to person and from time to time, but in my opinion the inside beauty is more important than anything else and it remains even though the person get older. To talk about Marilyn Monroe i think the secret behind her immortal beauty is that we only saw her when she is young and beautiful, but we don’t know what was happening if we saw her an old woman.

Buttafly, you are kind of a downer, HEHEHE let us  live with that illusion  ,we all know about her personal issues and that  she exactly was not a Meryl Streep  as far as acting is concern. Nobody can deny  that  she was and is a beauty  Icon. Her posters are sold worldwide, there must be a a reason for it.

Marilyn Monroe was a knockout, for sure. The best thing was taht, her beauty was absolutely natural. Beauty must be natural..

Beauty is relative you know, someone who is so beautiful for me can be so normal for another person, but I can say someone’s beauty is universal. I guess Marilyn Monroe was one of them..

Definitely. She is a knockout not only in her times but also by nowadays standards.I believe that she is still the dream women of many guys. She is sexy and nature. She hadn’t done any plastic surgery. So to me she is a smart and confident bomeshell.

I think that there is no common standards as to WHAT IS beauty.Because people often say that beauty lies in the eyes of the beloved. In my opinion,if  a girl has Big eyes, sharp nose and thin lips and they are all set perfectly on her face then I would say she is pretty. But let’s not forget that beauty has a deeper meaning. It can also mean one’s great soul and mind.
