Go Super to Listen Go Super!

Imagine that you’re a runner. You wake up early in the morning for your daily run. It’s cold out, though, and you know you’ll damage your muscles if you start running right away. You decide to start by doing some stretches, to warm up. You’re preparing your muscles for the run ahead, and you’re also literally making your body warmer.

It’s not only runners or athletes who need to warm up before they perform. A piano player might warm up by doing some scales and hand and finger exercises. An actor might warm up by practicing lines and imagining what it’s like to be her character. These people are all getting ready whatever “muscle” they need to perform.

The “muscle” singer Janelle Monae uses is her voice. If she went on stage without warming up, she probably wouldn’t sing very well, and she might damage her vocal cords. Therefore, she warms up before she sings by using an app on her iPad to practice some scales and other vocal exercises.

Do you ever warm up before you perform in some way? What do you do?

範例

“I hear her in there practicing scales. She must be warming up!”

“I got that question wrong, but I’ll get the next one right. I just have to warm up!”

As Snoopyboy mentioned, warming up is not only linked to exercising!! It could be anything else.

I can tell that teachers doing warming up activities before they move to the assigned topic make it easier for student to get through the whole lesson. These activities open the gate to students so that they feel as if they are walking on a bridge spinning from a point to another. As soon as teachers use these activities, the students feel even more focused and pay more attention to what is coming next.

I think if you’re not sweating during warm-up, you’re not ready for the real work out  : )

It’s highly recommended that you engage in a pre-workout routine that consist of stretching out the muscles to get your adrenaline flowing.  But also, the practice of warming-up will result in a safer workout by lowering the risk of muscle spasms and ligament tears among other injuries. A lot of people are ignoring these facts and end up hurting their bodies, so badly that they  had to put their beach body dreams on hold for a long time.

This isn’t just some preventive measures to reduce internal injuries.  Warming up has a lubricating effect on the body, it oils up your cranks and bolts ;), and your work out should go smoother afterwards.  It decompresses the muscles which facilitates movements for an optimal full-body performance.

That seals it for me! Today’s lesson really encouraged me to sign up for a Pilate class ;)

And …Oh! : ) Warming-up doesn’t only apply to exercising; it’s anything that helps us iron out our kinks for any major event: a rehearsal before a play, it’s studying ahead of an exam, it’s the mental toughness you harvest before a speech. Overall, it’s preparedness :)

It is necessary people warm up before they get into serious performance. Although it might take a little time, but it surely brings about a good result at the end. Players not warming up earlier might experience severe damages or injuries, which take so long till it has recovered. I heard lots of stories relating to this issue. In fact, it is like a precaution when you take all things needed to protect yourself from what might happen later.

It’s clear that people who go in for sports must warm themselves  up before the main training in order not to get any injury. The same thing is needed for singers to warm up the voice.

Still there are lots of situations in our life when we need to warm up or to be warmed up by somebody. For example, a student, a little one, gets a bad mark at school. He really has a  problem to tell  his parents about that case, and he needs to do it in a clever and witty way.  The main idea here is to warm  himself up to the condition of being accepted by parents for granted. It needs some courage.:) So both a student and his parents need  to be warmed up. But don’t try too hard or you can overheat somebody.:) Too much is too much!

I don´t know  what to say , ohh, yes !! a pre-friday warm-up joke.

A woman went to her doctor´s office where she was seen by a new doctor. After about four minutes in the examination room, the doctor told her she was pregnant.. She burst out screaming and ran down the hallway. An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was. She told him her story. After listening, she had her  sit down  and relax in another room.    The doctor marched down the hallway to the first doctor and demanded ” what´s the matter with you?  Mrs Smith is 59 years old, has four children, seven grandchildren and you told her she was pregnant”. The new doctor continued writing on his clipboard and without looking up said ” does she still have the hiccups”?!?!      good friday !!!!
