Go Super to Listen Go Super!

A superstition is a belief or an action about humans’ ability to influence events. A superstition often has to do with luck. For example, some people believe that if they find a four-leaf clover, it will bring them good luck. Other people believe that walking under a ladder is bad luck.

Another popular superstition is to keep your fingers crossed. Some people believe that crossing their middle finger over their index finger will bring them good luck, or help their wishes to come true. In fact, this superstition is so popular that people often use the phrase to simply mean, “I’m really hoping this will happen!” even if they don’t literally cross their fingers.

That’s what Hayden Panettiere means when she says she’s keeping her fingers crossed. She may not actually be wrapping her fingers around each other, but she’s really hoping that she gets the opportunity to be a country musician someday.

What superstitions do you have? Do you think they really work to influence events?

I am not superstitious. Sometimes I tell somebody that I will keep my fingers crossed for him, but I will not do that. It is not necessary to keep fingers crossed, the most important is that right person knows that you have your fingers wrapped around each other. That is the placebo effect. So I think superstitions can help people to believe in their potential. But on the other hand they can feel weak and stressed when for example they walk under ladder by accident. It can impact on their thinking. If someone thinks that he is unlucky then he will be unlucky. Everythink is in our minds. So we should be optimist, risk taking and really do not care about superstitions:)
