You know that slip of paper that you need to get onto an airplane? Not your ticket, but your boarding pass. That’s the document that actually allows you to get on board the plane. Boarding is the process of getting onto a boat, a bus, or a train, too. If you’re on board, you’re secure on the moving vehicle. You may have also seen a sign that was popular in American cars in the 1990s. The signs said “Baby on Board,” to indicate that the car contained an infant.

The phrase on board is used metaphorically, too. If you’re on board with an idea or a plan, that means you agree to go along with it. You can be on board with having fish for dinner, or going to Hawaii for vacation. If you’re on board, you’re willing to go along for the ride.

Fitness expert Jillian Michaels realizes that you can’t help children get healthy on their own. Their parents need to agree with the idea, too. The parents need to be on board.

Are you typically quick to get on board with a new plan or idea, or does it take you awhile to decide?

I suppose if we discuss how quickly we get on board with a new plan or idea, it depends on multitude factors. For example, I rather quickly get on board with some idea when I like it and my thoughts coincide with suggestion, but if my opinion is different, I can’t get on board. In such cases I try to change suggesting idea and assure in it other people. Honestly, I don’t like similar situations;) Definitely, I always to look at the suggesting idea on all sides, because I isn’t opinionated person who never can to see the problem or new idea with “other eyes”. Anyway, I don’t know whether there is similar idioms in English. It means that sometimes you need to see on some problem with a side, which is opposite to your opinion. Honestly, it may be useful in some cases and may help you in your life, because people like to communicate with other people if they can watch different ideas with different sides and to get on board with you with more pleasure and desire.

Actually, it takes a little time for me getting on board with a new idea or plan. Always I would like to evaluate new ideas or plans across the board‏ to reach a better result.‏
