When it’s time to make a difficult choice, there are many ways to do it. You can close your eyes and pick something. You can ask a friend or parents for help. You can write down all of the reasons that one thing is better than another. Or you can stop and pay attention to what your body is telling you. That’s called following one’s heart.

When you follow your heart, you are paying attention to your strongest feelings about something. The choice you make might not make sense to the people who know you, and it might even surprise you, but you are doing what feels right. When you follow your heart, you feel peaceful and good about yourself.

It’s important to follow one’s heart when thinking about work, because we spend many hours every day at our jobs. If Rafael follows his heart, what job will he have? Keep reading to find out in today’s English lesson.

Lily:  What are you reading?

Rafael:  I’m looking at the classified ads. I need a job in the worst way.

Lily:  Well, what kind of job are you looking for?

Rafael:  I’m trying to find something I can land easily and quickly. Something in a coffee shop, maybe, or in a restaurant. I guess I could also look for retail positions.

Lily:  Well, I’ll keep my ears open, and I’ll let you know if I hear anything. What did you get your degree in again?

Rafael:  Well, I got a bachelor’s degree in Spanish but I don’t exactly want to be a teacher or a translator, so…

Lily:  Well, being bilingual will definitely help you get hired. What’s your dream job?

Rafael:  My dream job?

Lily:  Yeah! Come on. Everybody’s got a dream job.

Rafael:  Promise not to laugh?

Lily:  Of course.

Rafael:  I want to be a yoga instructor. I took tons of yoga classes in New York, and I’m pretty good. I mean, I’ve been thinking maybe I could teach. I’ve been thinking about that for a long time, and I’m happiest when I’m practicing yoga, so…

Lily:  Are you serious?

Rafael:  Yeah.

Lily:  That is so awesome!

Rafael:  You think so?

Lily:  Yeah! I mean, I just started practicing when I was on my retreat, and it was wonderful. I felt so relaxed after I took the class and so strong. Yoga’s hard work. You should totally follow your heart and become a yoga instructor.

Rafael:  You know how I said you might just be the perfect roommate? This pretty much clinches it. Go get your yoga mat!

Lily:  OK.

Lily sees that Rafael is reading the newspaper, and she’s curious about what he’s looking at. Rafael is checking the classified ads for a job. He just arrived in the city, so it’s time for him to find work. He says that maybe he’ll work in retail or at a coffee shop, but he doesn’t seem very excited about it.

It’s clear to Lily that Rafael isn’t happy about the jobs he’s seeing in the paper. She asks him about his dream job, and Rafael shares that he truly wants to be a yoga instructor. Lily loves this idea, and she encourages Rafael to go for it. She believes that it’s important to follow your heart.

What happened the last time you followed your heart?

to make decision is sometimes hard.

but to follow your heart is the best way .

coz ONLY you can know what you want ,your aims, your dreams..

coz ONLY you have one LIFE ..life it with your own choices,decisions..

coz life is short too..dont be afraid to follow your heart..

we have a proverb here, ” dont go down into the well ,with other’s rope “

Good title!!! Follow your heart. Yeah, i followed my heart and thus i removed a friend of mine today. Blocked this friend so this friend wont have any ways to keep in contact with me. This might sound harsh. But the introduction above is right. “The choice you make might not make sense to the people who know you, and it might even surprise you, but you are doing what feels right. When you follow your heart, you feel peaceful and good about yourself.”
