Everyone eats! But some people like to explore and find different kinds of foods to try more than others. Foodies are obsessed with finding new dishes to try and eating at the best restaurants.

Foodies want to know everything about what they will eat, from where the ingredients came from to how the meal is cooked. Eating a meal can be an interesting experience when you think about all of the work and people involved in making the dishes.

Kellie is obsessed with interesting foods, but Sara prefers more simple food. Find out more in today’s English lesson about trying new restaurants.

Sara_R:  Hey, Kellie. So, I heard you’re a foodie.

Kellie:  I am. I’m kind of obsessed with trying new restaurants. How about you? Are you a foodie?

Sara_R:  No. I am not. I tend to stick with comfort foods.

Kellie:  So, you don’t like to try gourmet meals?

Sara_R:  Not really. I stick to some of the same dishes that I always like. My favorite things are like a grilled cheese sandwich. With those simple ingredients of bread and cheese. That’s my favorite. I’m not really into gourmet dishes.

Kellie:  So you don’t like anything trendy?

Sara_R:  Not so much. I’m open to trying new things, but not too many new things. Well, let’s go to one sometime.

Kellie:  OK. I would love that. We’ll try some new dishes too.

Sara_R:  That would be good. That would be fun. Open up my world.

Kellie is a foodie and she loves trying new restaurants. She likes to try and learn about trendy new foods. But not everyone shares her same excitement about new dishes.

Sara likes to eat the same comfort foods all the time. Even though she is open to trying new foods, she’s still a little worried that she might not like them. But she has agreed to try a new restaurant with Kellie. Who knows? Maybe Sara will become a foodie, too.

Are you a foodie? Do you like trying new dishes?

No, I’m not a foodie at all. I’m very fussy about what I eat and quite reluctant to try new dishes.

But I love wolfing down my comfort foods as if there’s no tomorrow. My mother always says that the only thing I do well in my life is eating.

I love eating so much but I am not a foodie. I am used to eat Turkish food and not open to different tastes much.

I wonder and like to try diffeent tastes but I just cannot eat as a meal. Just try, that’s all.

I don’t really know if I’m foodie or not. As for the regular meals, probably, I’m not, though I love spices. Spices give flavor, give a new spin to a dish. I love experimenting with spices. Tumeric and bell pepper are in every dish as a must for me. I love also black pepper. And today I tried a little bit of raw red spicy pepper, I don’t know how’s it’s called, but very spicy. Oh, God, i felt so good after. Tomorrow I’ll repeat it again. But, I like, Julito, also won’t be eating ensects and not only insects, the frog legs, the beef tongue, the chicken feet, the fish eyes…No, thanks, it’s not my cup of tea. But! I’m a real foodie concerning health supplements. Ashwagandha powder, algie, quinoa ( very trendy now), fish oil, raw cacao, cacao bits, sprouted flax seeds, chaga mushroom you name it! I’m obssessed with health food supplements, always open to try new healthy stuff – it’s my realm. Aslk me about, I’ll tell you a thing or two. And I’m very grateful to Morise, who introduced me to the wonderful ginger. Now, I always carry ginger in my bag. It’s great for the good mood too.

I am not foodie at all, like Sara, I  stick to basics ,I like to know beforehand what i am going to eat. At  the cost of a dinner in a good restaurant i don´t like surprises that it wasn´t of my taste the food ordered. A dear friend of mine (  and other EB´S members )  went with her husband on a holiday to Thailand and guess what she ate? READY ? fried insects. For me ,the picture that she sent out was disgusting, but she said that they were DELICIOUS !! MAN, she is really a foodie woman.
