Are you the type of person that follows the rules? Do you live your life like everyone else or try to be different? In English, we have a term for someone who likes to cause trouble or who likes to challenge the norm. The expression is rock the boat.

To rock the boat means to say or do something to change a situation. When you don’t agree with rules in the office, you probably rock the boat in order to get what you want.

Actress Cate Blanchett thinks Western society doesn’t like people who rock the boat. She says that people are told to keep their heads down and follow the rules. She likes to rock the boat so that she can get ahead in the movie business.

At work I have been rocked the boat but my intentions are kind and I just fight for peoples’ rights. I tried to do as much as I could but the situation hasn’t changed. But I feel proud of myself to find enough courage and put away my fear against my managers.

Safety is big thing. Rock the boat when it is unsafe. When you’re in danger, there’re no progress, no life, no comfort. You think how to survive instead of growing as professional, skillful personality like a great actress Cate Blanchette who got amazingly lucky to live in Western society.

I’m rather be ‘sitting deep in boat’ than ‘rocking the boat’.

Usually, I had tried to follow all the rules that would be given to me under any circumstances.
