Steph:  I went to this party last weekend and they were playing Spin the Bottle. Have you ever played that game?

Sara:  Yeah. But I haven’t played it since junior high.

Steph:  Yeah. I was so shocked. They got this bottle out and they put it on the floor. And we didn’t know each other or anything. And, you know what you have to do when you play Spin the Bottle.

Sara:  Well, yeah. Well, you’re all sitting in a circle on the floor right?

Steph:  Right.

Sara:  So, did you spin it? And did it point at a guy? And you had to kiss him?

Steph:  Well, luckily, I spinned it and it pointed at my boyfriend.

Sara:  Oh good.

Steph:  So I got to kiss him.

Sara:  That’s cool.

Steph:  Yeah.

Sara:  ‘Cause wouldn’t he have been jealous if you had kissed somebody else?

Steph:  I would think so. I left really quickly. I was like, I don’t wanna play this game anymore.

Sara:  Yeah. That’s pretty funny.

Steph:  I was kind of a spoiled sport, but whatever. It happens.

Sara:  Were they using an empty beer bottle? People usually do that.

Steph:  Yeah. It was an empty beer bottle.

Sara:  That’s funny. Well, I’m glad you left early.

Steph:  Yeah. Me too. It wasn’t worth staying for.

Sara:  No.

Discussion

The first time I played this game, I was in the eighth grade. We were all about 12 or 13 years old and there were about 8 of us. Of course I had a crush on one of the boys and I really wanted the bottle to point in his direction. I was so nervous! My palms were sweating and my heart was racing. In the end, I didn’t get to kiss my crush. I had to kiss my best friend’s little brother. Eeew!
