Susanna |
Susanna: Wait, what are we doing?
Toby: We’re going to Canada.
(she stands there, looking at him)Toby: Susanna, you’re not crazy. OK? You don’t need to be here.
Susanna: I tried to kill myself, Toby.
Toby: You took some aspirin…
Susanna: I took a bottle of aspirin.
Toby: And that buys you a year in this place? Susanna, that’s bullshit, ok?! They’re breaking you. Now come on, alright? Everything’s changing, man. What the fuck do they know about being normal?
Susanna: I, I have friends in here.
Toby: Who? Them? Those girls? Susanna, they’re eating grapes off of the wallpaper. They’re insane.
Susanna: If they are, I am.
Toby: No. No, baby. Listen, come with me.
(he tries to take her arm and she pulls back)Toby: Look, my uh, my dad gave me 5 grand. Ok? We can go up there, we can build a cabin in the woods! Susanna, I know that this sounds crazy, but I think I love you. So come with me, ok? Come with me. (she stares at him, again)
Toby: You want to leave, don’t you? I mean…
Susanna: Yes, I want to leave. But not with you. Not with you. I’m sorry, Toby.

Discussion
Susanna doesn’t say much in this conversation because she’s confused and upset. Toby is trying to convince her to do something she doesn’t want to do. Toby uses a lot of common slang, and it’s definitely worth your time to try to understand him. Girl, Interrupted is a great movie. The acting is fabulous. Angelina Jolie even won an Oscar for best supporting actress for her performance. However, it’s a little slow and lacks any significant action. I think you should see this movie. I give it a 8 out of 10. Have you seen this movie and you want to share your opinion? Or maybe you have seen another movie recently you want to talk about? Well, come to the “Movie Madness” message board and tell us about it! From the front row, Migs
