Irish actor Colin Farrell has suddenly become one of the biggest movie stars in the world. With important roles in three recent blockbuster films (Daredevil, The Recruit and Minority Report) Farrell has shown that he can play a wide variety of characters. In his newest movie, Phone Booth, Farrell plays a man who gets stuck in a phone booth. He remains in the phone booth for nearly the whole movie.
Josh is interested in seeing Colin Farrell’s new film, but Miguel isn’t convinced that a movie about a man in a Phone Booth can be all that exciting. Listen to their recent conversation and then decide for yourself.

Miguel:  Dude, there are no good movies out right now.

Josh:  Why? You’re lookin’ to go to the movies and there’s just nothing you wanna see?

Miguel:  Well, I was checkin’ in the paper last night and it’s just nothin’ I’m excited about. You think… is there anything you wanna see?

Josh:  I wanna see Phone Booth. That sounds cool.

Miguel:  What’s that? The one with, like, Colin Farrell or something?

Josh:  Yeah. And with, uh, Kiefer Sutherland as the, as the sniper who keeps, like, Colin Farrell pinned in this phone booth and everyone thinks that Colin Farrell’s a murderer. I just, I think it’s a… I don’t know, a fun concept.

Miguel:  But, is, is he in the phone booth the whole movie.

Josh:  The whole movie.

Miguel:  That’s what seems stupid to me.

Josh:  See, that’s what seems so great about it. I mean, if you can make an exciting movie where the star of the film is in a phone booth for the whole time, that’s pretty impressive.

Miguel:  OK. Well I’m not sure if I buy that, but…

Josh:  You want a little more action in your movie.

Miguel:  Well, I mean, I don’t know. I want you to see it first and then if you like it maybe I’ll spend the eight bucks on it.

Josh:  Well I’ll let you know.

Miguel:  Alright.

Discussion

I love Colin Farrell! He’s one of the cutest actors in Hollywood. However, I have to agree with Miguel about Phone Booth. I just don’t think it sounds like a good movie. I have no interest in watching a guy in a phone booth for two hours.
Most of the movies Colin Farrell has been in so far have been action movies or violent dramas. I think he should make a romantic comedy. I’ve seen interviews with him and he seems like he’s got a great sense of humor. He’d be good in a sweet romantic movie with a beautiful actress like Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, or Jennifer Lopez.
See you at the movies!
