Derek:  Have you ever seen the movie Queen Margot from France?

Steph:  Queen Margot, from France. No. What’s it about.

Derek:  It’s about, um, this queen, who was, uh. She was the sister of Henry the 9th of France. And it was all about her and her family. Um, her mother was Catherine di Medici.

Steph:  Oh, wow. That’s a really famous family.

Derek:  Yeah, a very notorious family. So, it’s a movie full of intrigue and really well done sets and costumes and everything, so.

Steph:  So, is it a period movie?

Derek:  Yes. It’s a period movie. Um. When the Catholics and the Lutherans were fighting each other a lot.

Steph:  Wow! That sounds kinda cool.

Derek:  Yeah. There’s a lot of pretty famous actors, um, well French actors.

Steph:  Like who?

Derek:  Like, um, Daniel Auteuil. Um.

Steph:  Is Gerard Depardieu in it? Cause he’s in all the famous French movies.

Derek:  Actually, this is one that he’s not in. I’m surprised though because he would probably fit well at some point in that movie.

Steph:  I don’t know if his nose would.

Discussion

Why do people watch films that are from other countries? I can’t speak for everyone else, but I can speak for myself. I like watching foreign films because they give me another viewpoint from which to see the world. In this film for example, you would get the chance to see the Queen’s perspective and the filmmaker’s perspective. It’s so cool! Plus, you can check out all of the French castles and art!
